About me and my art
Hello and thank you for visiting my website.
My name is Fran Hunt and I’m a London-based, practicing artist. I am a painter, traditionally working in oils and more recently with acrylics. I use colour and texture to produce vivid, immersive pieces. I work intuitively, placing colour, shape and texture at the centre of the work, regularly exploring and highlighting irregular combinations. I hold a degree in fine art and have exhibited in the UK and internationally.
Many of my most recent works are abstract and would fit within abstract expressionist genre. Whilst earlier influences included Van Gogh and artists from the Die Brucke (the Bridge) movement, more recently I’ve been drawn to the work of 20th Century artists such as Jasper Johns, Gene Davis, Bridget Riley and Ellsworth Kelly.
I also paint from nature, real life images such as trees, beaches and landscapes. Painting these can enable me to momentarily pause my city life, providing a sense of reprieve and calm.
I hope the boldness within my paintings acts to challenge the viewer to reconsider colour and form in the everyday.
My works are held in private collections in the UK and internationally. Please get in contact if you’d like to find out more.
